Iberia Airlines

Iberia is the largest airline in Spain and the leader between Latin American and Europe. Founded in 1927, it aims to be the best option for leisure and business travellers. From its base in Madrid Barajas airport, Iberia offers multiple connections. In 2012, Iberia established its own low-cost airline Iberia Express, which operates short- and medium-haul routes from its parent airline's Madrid hub, providing feeder flights onto Iberia's long-haul network.

In addition to transporting passengers and freight, Iberia Group  also involves in aircraft maintenance, airport handling services and cargo. Iberia is also voted the world's most punctual airline in 2016 and 2017.

Many airline companies are struggling against Covid-19 impact. Iberia is looking to recovery with “Next Chapter” plan with focus on customer trust, the Madrid Hub, and connectivity ensuring the future sustainability of the airline.

Destinations

As of May 2021, Iberia flies to 26 domestic and 64 international destinations across Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe. The most popular routes are: London to New York, Manchester to New York and London to Cancun.

For summer season of 2021, Iberia’s ambitious new flight programer takes it to a record 114 destinations, including three new ones: the Moldavian capital Ljubljana, the Maldives islands in the Indian Ocean, and Portugal’s Azores archipelago in the Atlantic. The Maldives route is already so popular that Iberia today announced that it has raised flight frequency to three per week.

For the longer term, Iberia plans to strengthen its Madrid Airport T4 hub and connectivity within Spain, while building its air cargo business. Meanwhile, the new AVE high-speed train link to Madrid airport will initially deliver up to 500,000 air passengers per year. Iberia has set its sights on repositioning its hub as one of Europe’s best connection points to Asia, while bringing higher-revenue tourism to Spain.
