Allegiant Air

Las Vegas-based Allegiant which is usually shortened to Allegiant is an American ultra-low cost airline that operates scheduled and charter flights. As a major air carrier, it is the fourteenth-largest commercial airline in North America. The airline is founded as WestJet Express in 1997 by Mitch Alee, Jim Patterson and Dale Beadle. The airline adopted the name Allegiant Air and received FAA and US DOT certification for scheduled and charter domestic operations on June 19, 1998.

Allegiant focused on linking travelers in small cities to world-class leisure destinations. The airline offers industry-low fares on an all-jet fleet while also offering other travel-related products such as hotel rooms and rental cars.  Allegiant’s low-cost, high-efficiency, all-jet passenger airline offers air travel both on a stand-alone basis and bundled with travel products such as hotels, car rental and entertainment tickets. By providing bundled vacation packages at attractive prices, Allegiant makes travel not only affordable, but also convenient.

Every single airlines it really affected by the covid-19 pandemic. Now the company is rightfully boasting that it could be the first US operator to recover fully, and its market cap has surpassed pre-pandemic levels. Allegiant has the ability to recover faster than some of the country’s other airlines, and its cost structure combined with an overall still smaller footprint, will continue to be catalysts for the airline as it joins other airlines in capitalizing on an inflection point in US demand.

Allegiant Destinations

All can be purchased only through the company website, Allegiant.com. Beginning with one aircraft and one route in 1999, the company has grown to more than 92 aircraft and 350 routes across the country with base airfares less than half the cost of the average domestic round-trip ticket.

When it comes to destinations, Allegiant prefers to use a combination of large airports in top U.S. vacation areas (like Las Vegas, Orlando, and Phoenix), and smaller secondary airports where airport fees cost less (like Belleville, IL; Laredo, TX; and Stockton, CA).Allegiant does not operate flights every day from every location. Allegiant says the days each specific route is available are based on the most popular ones people generally fly. They claim operating fewer flights with more passengers allows them to cut costs and pass savings along to the consumer.

On February 12, 2021, Allegiant launched flights to John Wayne Airport with 8 initial destinations including Boise, Grand Junction, Las Vegas, Medford, Missoula, Provo, Reno Tahoe, and Spokane.

Las Vegas-based Allegiant is adding 34 new nonstop routes to its summer schedule. This network expansion comes as the airline seeks to benefit from the increased demand for travel to US domestic leisure destinations - a market which has seen the most increase following Coronavirus restrictions. As the summer season approaches, the airline expects this demand to increase due to further limitations on international travel.

Allegiant Air Cancellation Policy

Allegiant Air's cancellation policy is straight forward, as a low-cost airline with extremely cheap airline tickets none of its flights are changeable and cannot be cancelled for a refund or date change.

On tickets that are purchased along with its 'Flex Trip' policy, you can cancel the flight and receive a credit to put towards a future flight. However, 'Flex Trip' is not available through Alternative Airlines.

Instead, Alternative Airlines offer Cancellation Protection on all Allegiant Air flights. Cancellation Protection adds peace of mind and covers you for a refund if you can no longer use your flight. With Cancellation Protection, you will receive a full refund if you need to cancel your flight for any of the reasons set out in the terms and conditions. It covers cancellation due to illness, redundancy, airline failure and a number of other emergency circumstances.

You can add Cancellation Protection to your reservation at the time of booking and after you've selected your flight.
